Jesse Lee Memorial Church Pumpkin Proceeds to Help Ebola Crisis

Friday's proceeds from Jesse Lee Pumpkin Patch will benefit Doctors Without Borders.

From Jesse Lee Memorial Church:

RIDGEFIELD – Pick a pumpkin Friday at the Jesse Lee Pumpkin Patch and help with the fight against the Ebola virus in Africa.

Proceeds from all pumpkin sales on Fri., Oct. 17 will be given to Doctors Without Borders.

The first to respond to the Ebola crisis in West Africa, Doctors Without Borders remains the primary international medical aid group battling the disease there. The scale of the crisis has overwhelmed the private international association, which is made up mainly of doctors and health-sector workers who provide assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters, and to victims of armed conflict.

“Net proceeds from all sales on Friday – from the smallest set-around gourd to the biggest heaviest pumpkin – will go to help Doctors Without Borders fight this disaster,” said Nick Cappiello, manager of the Jesse Lee Pumpkin Patch.

The Jesse Lee Pumpkin Patch is an annual mission of Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church. Aside from this Friday’s special giving, proceeds from the Pumpkin Patch are split by the church (to support its many ministries) and the pumpkin growers who employ Navajo workers on Navajo land in New Mexico.

The Pumpkin Patch’s hours are: 2-6 p.m. Mondays & Tuesdays; noon-6 p.m. Wed.-Fri.; and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays & Sundays.

Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church is at 207 Main St. (at Route 102/Branchville Road). For more information, call the church office at (203) 438-8791.
