Keeler Tavern Museum Spotlights WWI Flyers
The Lafayette Escadrille were 38 American aviators who joined the fight before the U.S. entered the war.

RIDGEFIELD, CT --- Historian John Cilio will present a lecture on the contribution of the American flyers of the Lafayette Escadrille during World War I. The program will include video, photographs and period music, and be hosted by the Keeler Tavern Museum and History Center on Sunday, April 15, at 3 p.m.
After refreshing memories about the timeline of WWI, its participants, key battles, and tools of destruction, Mr. Cilio will lead a discussion on how some Americans wanted to help France and England confront the Central Powers' assault on democracy, before the American government felt compelled to join the fight. The presentation will focus on the contributions made by the original Lafayette Escadrille, 38 American pilots under the French commander, Captain George Thenault.
This lecture is part of "Ridgefield Remembers WWI," a town-wide celebration of the 100th anniversary of the ending of World War I in 1918.
