RIDGEFIELD, CT — Three third-graders were sent home for evaluation after a large tree branch fell onto a playscape in the Barlow Mountain Elementary School playground Wednesday. No injuries were reported.

In a letter to parents, school principal Rebecca Laus said that school medical personnel were on site shortly after the incident that occurred around 11:45 a.m. The school workers were soon joined by first responders, and the children were sent home with their parents.

Students will continue to have access to the blacktop and field, Laus said, and the school will continue to "assess the play area for usability and safety prior to opening this section of the playground for student use."
