Las Cafeteras Take Stage in Ridgefield's CHIRP Concert

The L.A. Times described them as a "uniquely Angeleno mishmash of punk, hip-hop, beat music, cumbia and rock."

RIDGEFIELD, CT -- Concert Happenings in Ridgefield Parks (CHIRP) is welcoming Las Cafeteras to Ballard Park on Tuesday, July 10 at 7 p.m. The L.A. Times described the group as a “uniquely Angeleno mishmash of punk, hip-hop, beat music, cumbia and rock.” Their Afro-Mexican beats, rhythms, and rhymes deliver inspiring lyrics that document stories of a community seeking love and justice in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles. Using traditional Son Jarocho instruments like the jarana, requinto, quijada (donkey jawbone) and tarima (a wooden platform), Las Cafeteras sing in English, Spanish, and Spanglish.

In the event of rain, the concert will be held at the Ridgefield Playhouse.

CHIRP is a series of free Tuesday and Thursday night summer concerts in Ballard Park located in the heart of Ridgefield. It also sponsors the U.S. Military Band concerts held several times a year at the H.S. auditorium. CHIRP is totally funded by individual and foundation donations as well as contributions from local businesses.
