Many responded by creating a purple-themed window display. “This is one of the many ways our businesses give back to the community,” said Marion Roth, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce. “Although most people have no idea how much local businesses give to our community, anecdotal information points to an enormous sum.” One Main Street retailer that gave donations valued at $2,000 a month in 2012 is on the way to giving $3,000 a month in 2013.
