Malloy Least Popular U.S. Governor: Report
Malloy is the least popular governor after New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie left office, according to Morning Consult.

HARTFORD, CT — Gov. Dannel Malloy is now America's least popular governor who is still in office, according to a new poll released by Morning Consult.
Malloy's approval rating is 23 percent. Only former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) had a lower approval rating at 19 percent, but he has since left office after hitting his term limit.
Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin (R) has the second lowest approval rating out of any sitting governor at 28 percent.
Fellow New England governors Charlie Baker (R) of Massachusetts and Phil Scott (R) of Vermont ranked among the top 10 most popular governors with approval ratings of 69 percent and 63 percent respectively.
Malloy is in his last year of office as governor after announcing he wouldn't seek a third term. A slew of Republican and Democrats have announced they are seeking the office. Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman announced she wouldn't run for governor and instead wanted to spend more time with her family.

On Wednesday Malloy announced that he supported a hike in the gas tax and urged the legislature to pass electronic tolling this session so it could become a reality by fiscal year 2023. The proposal comes in an election year where Democrats hold a slight majority in the state house and are tied with Republicans in the state senate.
