Liz Gagnon, executive chef at Nature’s Temptations, with Jeff Konchalski, owner of the health food store and organic market at 32 Prospect St., have created 100% organic juice cleanses that are not just healthy but delicious.
According to Chef Liz, cleansing can have many benefits, including cleansing and regulating the colon, reduced toxins, reduced cravings for sugar and other stimulants and increased energy levels. “I think it is also a great way to kick off a diet,” she said.
Chef Liz has used her 20 years of juicing experience to develop a cleanse menu containing numerous flavors divided into three categories: Ease On In To It, made primarily from fruits and greens, for the beginner; Level Off, with less fruit and more greens, and Bring It On, with even more greens and less fruit. Each category consists of six 16-ounce bottles of juice, to be taken daily; five days is recommended.
Anyone interested in learning more about the cleanse can visit Nature’s Temptations for a private consultation with Chef Liz or Mr. Konchalski. If you decide to try the cleanse program, you need to order your juices a week in advance. This gives Nature’s Temptations time to purchase the fresh, organic juice ingredients and gives you time to get your body ready. Chef Liz recommends drinking lots of water and keeping your diet simple seven to 10 days before a cleanse. Two to three days in advance she suggests eliminating certain items from your diet, including alcohol and processed foods.
“Cleansing is an investment in your health,” she said, “and for us, making the juices is a labor of love.”
