Newtown Parks Commission To Discuss Aquazip, Budget, And Surcharge Increase
The Newtown Parks and Recreation Commission will convene to review ongoing projects, including the Aquazip pool amenity.
NEWTOWN, CT — The Newtown Parks and Recreation Commission will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Newtown Teen Center.
The agenda for the meeting includes several items for discussion and potential action. Commissioners will continue their discussion regarding the proposed Aquazip pool amenity for Treadwell Pool. They will also address ongoing discussions concerning HVAC updates for the Teen Center.
Further old business includes a review of fundraising strategies and new special events and activities. The commission plans to discuss how to introduce new events and build upon existing ones to generate additional revenue. The Capital Improvement Plan will also be on the agenda, along with the 2026-27 budget review. A discussion on how a surcharge will be increased is also planned. Additionally, the repair of the Treadwell Scoreboard will be addressed.

Under new business, the commission will consider its meeting calendar for 2026, with the addition of January 2027.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting, though seating is limited. Those planning to attend who require assisted hearing devices are asked to contact the Office of the First Selectman at 270-4201 at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
