NRVT Unveils Designs for Ridgefield Trail

It's a 1.5 mile piece of the overall 33 mile project.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Organizers for the Norwalk River Valley Trail project showed off their designs for the 1.5 mile Ridgefield section at the Ridgefield Library last week.

The NRVT project aims to build 33 miles of trail connecting Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk to Rogers Park in Danbury, passing through Wilton, Ridgefield, and Redding along the way. The trail is intended to be ADA compliant, and accessible, and appropriate for walkers, runners, bikers and wheel chairs.

Backers have raised nearly $20,000 since last summer for the design, engineering and permits for the Ridgefield component. The next phase of the plan is more daunting, requiring $934,000 to connect Simpaug Turnpike to Bobby’s Court near the Redding line.

Organizers hope to start building the Ridgefield component of the NRVT next year.
