RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ferdinand "Fred" James Caruso, of Ridgefield passed away peacefully on Jan. 12, 2023, at the age of 84.

Fred was born in Clarksburg, WV to Thomas Sebastian and Mary Fragomene Caruso on Dec. 2, 1938. Fred was a beloved, caring and devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandfather (Papi), uncle and friend. He found great inspiration in the Blessed Mother, attending daily mass and serving as a Eucharistic Minister. No distance was too far to be with family in West Virginia or to attend out-of-town events for his children and grandchildren. He was always a source of wisdom and guidance for his family and loved to tell a good story. He was a man with a kind heart, big hugs and humility that spread to his four children and eleven grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of fifty-five years, Fred is survived by his children Mary Rose Cherrone and her husband Michael, Angela McGowan and her husband Stephen, Thomas Caruso, and Stephanie Caruso and her husband Allen; his grandchildren: Sarah, Katie, Lauren and Danielle McGowan; Andrew and Nicole Cherrone; Abigail, Isabella and Vincent Caruso; and Ferdinand and Dante Sawyer; his sister, Angela Romano and many beloved nieces and nephews.
