Obituary: Hipolito Ortiz, 92, Of Ridgefield
A resident of Ridgefield since 2002, Mr. Ortiz was retired from Esperanza Bakery. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Hipolito Ortiz, 92, of Ridgefield, died on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023. He was the loving husband of Maria Ortiz.
Mr. Ortiz was born on May 16, 1931 in Puerto Rico; a son of the late Maria (Suarez) and Ezequiel Ortiz Brazero.
A resident of Ridgefield since 2002, Mr. Ortiz was retired from Esperanza Bakery. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Mr. Ortiz was a humble, yet devoted family man. Family was most important to him and above all he cherished time spent with his wife, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ortiz is survived by his wife of 69 years, Maria, as well as their four daughters: Marza Ortiz, Sandra Dalem and her husband, Anthony, Evelyn Simels and her husband Robert and Janet Ortiz. Mr. Ortiz is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Liza Geigel, Nelson Lopez, Amanda Dalem, Adam Ma, Alexandra Simels, William Simels and Jacob Santiago as well as his four great-grandchildren: Tye Castle, Taylor Castle, Mia Lopez and Ava Lopez. In addition, Mr. Ortiz is survived by a brother, Jose Luis Ortiz and a sister, Daisy Galarza and her husband, Hipolito.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, Aug. 28, 2023 from noon to 3:00 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A prayer service will be offered at the conclusion of the visitation at 2:30 p.m. and interment will take place privately.
