RIDGEFIELD, CT — An online fundraiser for the family of a popular Ridgefield businessman has raised $45,490 in just over a week.

Dave Buckley, 51, died Jan. 13 following a brief illness.

"Dave was a friend to many and highly involved in the community," organizer Colleen Sambus posted on the GoFundMe page. "He could often be found lending a hand and cheering on the team at any and every sport that his beloved children were playing."

Buckley left behind his wife, Ingrid (Buttner) Buckley and children Juliana “Jules” and Alexander Jack “AJ” Buckley.

"Dave was always the biggest supporter of Jules and AJ - and as a community, we would love to support them," Sambus wrote.

Contributions to The Buckley Family GoFundMe will "help with expenses and college savings that will help them to navigate the long road ahead."

Buckley began his career as a recreation therapist, first at Sliver Hill Hospital and then at Four Winds Hospital, according to his obituary. In 1998, he transitioned to physician recruitment at Weatherby Health Care. In 2004, Buckley started EOS Healthcare Solutions (formerly known as Helios Medical Group) continuing in his service of the medical community.

His passion for combating obesity inspired him and his wife to start their own string of clinics across the Northeast. He later became national sales director for Moxifit.

Buckley was a strong advocate for small businesses, and served on the Board of Directors for the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce from 2014-2017.
