Obituary: Sylvia (Pinchbeck) Sturges, 90, Of Ridgefield

A life-long Ridgefield resident, Sylvia was a floral designer with the family business, Pinchbeck Nursery.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Sylvia (Pinchbeck) Sturges, 90, of Ridgefield, died peacefully on Sunday evening, Dec. 24, 2023.

Mrs. Sturges was the wife of the late John N. Sturges.

Sylvia was born in Ridgefield on June 26, 1933, the daughter of the late Joseph and Effie (Washburn) Pinchbeck.

A life-long Ridgefield resident, Sylvia was a floral designer with the family business, Pinchbeck Nursery.

In her spare time, she enjoyed caring for animals of all kinds; most especially horses. She was an avid photographer and enjoyed spending time in Vermont.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield.

Sylvia is survived by her sons, James Sturges and his wife Cynthia and Donald Sturges and his wife Tina. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sarah Kuehn Schroder (Harrison), Christopher Sturges (Maria), Thomas Sturges (Kelleigh), and Michael Sturges (Lauren). She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Brandon Schafer, Will and Simon Schroder, Charlie, Danny, and Brodie Sturges, and James Sturges. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Marie Pinchbeck and Dale Pinchbeck along with many extended family members.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sylvia was predeceased by a daughter Charlene Kuehn, a granddaughter Kristina Kuehn, brothers, Joseph, John, and Jay, and a sister-in-law Etehlyn.

Funeral services will be announced. There will be no calling hours.

Contributions in Sylvia’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
