Obituary: William H. Lutzius, 91, Of Ridgefield
Bill served as a member of the Ridgefield Symphony Foundation Board and past president of the Ridgefield Men's Club.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — William H. Lutzius, 91, of Ridgefield, died peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022. He was the loving husband of the late Marie (Walsh) Lutzius who predeceased him in 2020. Marie’s last words were, "I married the right guy."
Mr. Lutzius was born in Brooklyn, NY on Nov. 26, 1931, the only child of the late William and Grace (Wigmore) Lutzius. Bill attended St. Michael’s elementary school in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, and St. Michael’s Diocesan High School, where he shone as a track star. Following High School, Bill joined the Air Force, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, while serving at Andersen Air Force Base on Guam and at James Connally Air Force Base in Texas. He attained an electrical engineering degree on the GI Bill while working, raising 5 children, and renovating the family’s home in Bay Ridge.
A resident of Ridgefield since 1987, Mr. Lutzius was a retired Engineer for the NY Telephone Company and NYNEX. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, Ridgefield. Bill served as a member of the Ridgefield Symphony Foundation Board, was an active member, serving as President, of the Ridgefield Men’s Club, and was proud to be a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Lutzius is survived by his children: Kate, Linda, Pat and John; his daughter-in-law, Alison; his sons-in-law Michael, Michael and Randy; as well as his grandchildren, Frank, Carrie, Seth, Max and Kelly, sister-in-law, Eileen, and brother-in-law, Bob, and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Marie, and his parents, Mr. Lutzius was predeceased by a son, Bill.
Bill’s family thanks RVNA for many years of thoughtful home care and Danbury Hospital doctors and nurses for their compassionate end of life care.
