O'Dea Wins BlueStreak Sports Training Player Of The Week Award

Kicker booted two second-half field goals in Tigers' 21-12 win at Wilbur Cross, then returned an interception for a TD in the final minute.

Kicker Chris O'Dea, who helped spark Ridgefield to a 21-12 victory at Wilbur Cross, has been named the BlueStreak Sports Training Player of the Week,  an award that is powered by the FCIAC Football Blog and Patch.com.

One of 10 nominees, O'Dea kicked field goals of 38 and 22 yards in the second half, as the Tigers rallied from a 12-0  halftime deficit. He then sealed the victory by returning an interception 50 yards for a touchdown in the final minute.

The Player of the Week candidates are nominated by Patch.com based on its weekly coverage of high school football, and  the voting is conducted by the FCIAC Football Blog. Write-in candidates are also accepted.

The other players nominated by Patch.com were three quarterbacks - New Canaan's Matt Milano, Darien's Chris Allam and Staples' Chet Pajolek - along with Fairfield Warde receiver Craig Lowery, who returned two kickoffs for touchdowns in a 34-13 loss to New Canaan.

The players nominated by FCIAC Football Blog readers included St. Joseph quarterback Joe Della Vecchia, Harding running back Taquan Broadway, Trumbull quarterback Brian Gallo, Greenwich running back Shane Nastahowski and Stamford defensive end  Reuben Pierre-Louis.

Ridgefield (3-1), hosts Harding on Friday. The Presidents (1-3) are coming off a 12-6  victory over Fairfield Ludlowe, their first FCIAC win in four years.
