Places to Eat Out on Christmas Day

Help us fill out our list of places where those not celebrating Christmas — or in need of a break from those celebrations — can get something to eat on Dec. 25.

Christmas Day, for most, is a day full of family, presents and cozy holiday cheer. But this isn't the case for everyone — it can be claustrophobic to be a non-Christian stuck at home.

The local Chinese restaurants tend to be open (though double-checking is always prudent), as do the cinemas. But this has been the case so consistently that even an annual Chinese food and a movie afternoon is losing its luster.

So for those who don't celebrate Christmas and are done with wonton soup, or for Christians who need an escape route from a house full of rowdy relatives, Patch presents a few Fairfield County alternatives open on Dec. 25:

  • in Darien will be open on Christmas Day.
  • If Darienites prefer sushi to pad thai, is also open.
  • Another Thai option is in Stamford, which has the same owners as LTK.
  • in New Canaan is open on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with a special menu including items such as cognac-scented lobster bisque and pan-seared breast of duck with kumquat sauce.
  • Westport's has a Christmas Day Community Feast at 1 p.m. All are welcome.
  • Starbucks is your savior this Christmas if you need to get out of the house; stores in the following Fairfield County Patch towns are open, all from at least 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and some of them for longer hours: , Fairfield ( and stores), , , West Stamford Plaza, and Westport (the Parker Harding Plaza and Post Road East stores).
