A Plethora of Pumpkins Weigh In at Annual Festival

It was a picture perfect day for the 2nd Annual Ridgefield Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off. Held annually at Ballard Park, growers from around the state showed off their giant gourds for a chance to win prizes and bragging rights for the next year.

The proud winner this year was Nicholas Huydic, a backyard grower from Fairfield, Conn., whose pumpkin weighed in at a whopping 1,625.5 pounds! This is the second straight win for Nicholas. Last year, his giant pumpkin weighed in at 1,290.5 pounds.

The youth winner’s pumpkin weighed in at 917 pounds.
