Police Nab Ridgefield Man in Pharmacy Robbery

He walked off with drugs after telling the pharmacist that he had a gun.

RIDGEFIELD, CT -- Police arrested a Ridgefield man in connection with a pharmacy robbery earlier this week.

Danbury police say Thomas Redmond, 22, walked into the Rite-Aid on Mill Plain Road in Danbury around 5 p.m. Sunday, July 29, and claimed to have a gun. The pharmacist opened a safe on his demand, and Redmond took two bottles of amphetamines, then left the store.

Responding officers were provided with Redmond’s description and informed that he was last seen heading toward the New York border.

Police found Redmond shortly thereafter in possession of the stolen items, walking on Saw Mill Road. Redmond informed the officers that he needed the medication because he suffered from addiction., according to the police.

Redmond was charged with first-degree robbery, fourth-degree larceny, breach of peace and threatening. He was held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 22.

Police say that a gun was never displayed during the robbery, nor recovered by officers.
