Renata Abiali Receives Award from Exchange Club
This award is given to a student for outstanding contribution and service to their local community.
Wooster School twelfth grade student, Renata Abiali, received the Student of the Month Award from the Danbury chapter of the National Exchange club on December 7. This award is given to a student for outstanding contribution and service to their local community.
She attended with her brother and parents Renato and Elina. Ms. Hannah Reed, Assistant Director of Student Advancement, attended on behalf of the school, and Ms. Reed spoke to introduce Renata during the awards presentation.
"One of the greatest joys of working in a small school is getting to know students in multifaceted, truly meaningful ways. I have known Renata since she was a seventh grader, and can attest to her academic curiosity, strong character, and commitment to learning.
She is a true interdisciplinary thinker, drawing connections between seemingly disparate ideas, pulling together themes from different classes, and creating new meaning for herself and others.
In the classroom, she is patient and generous when engaging in intellectual dialogue; as a community member, she listens well, thinks before she contributes, and often connects to what has already been shared. She is tolerant with ambiguity in conversation and ideas, and enjoys the challenge presented by novel concepts.
As a senior leader, she is an excellent Prefect for our Student Ambassador Program. She seamlessly leads and connects our various Admissions programs, coordinates tours and open houses, and there is no one I would rather put forth as the “face of Wooster.”
The values of Wooster include the phrase “gentle, generous, truthful, kind, and brave.” In and out of the classroom, Renata demonstrates these traits, and continues to impress and inspire all of us to be better educators, thinkers, and community members," remarked Reed.
Congratulations Renata!
