
RIDGEFIELD, CT -- The Ridgefield Playhouse will be spooling out a restored edition of "The Producers" on the big screen on Sunday, June 3 at 7 p.m.
The showing and restoration mark the fiftieth anniversary of the film's release. Writer/director Mel Brooks won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay of 1968 for the movie, which went evolved from qurky cult comedy to classic to a place on the National Film Registry.
Thirty years after its theatrical release, Brooks turned it into a Tony-Award winning Broadway musical, the subject of the fourth season of HBO's hit show "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and another film adaptation in 2005 starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.
