Ridgefield $48M Sewer Plan Seeks Bids, Public Discourse
The first phase is expected to cost about $32 million of the budget
RIDGEFIELD, CT — The renovation of the wastewater treatment plant off South Street, a key component of the town's $48 million sewer project, is going out to bid, the News-Times is reporting.
The sewer project was approved by voters last November, and encompasses two phases. The renovation of the plant on South Street to handle tougher environmental standards for the removal of nitrogen and phosphorous in wastewater is the first, and is expected to take about $32 million of the budget. The second phase sees the shuttering of the District II sewage treatment plant that serves the Route 7 and 35 area, and the construction of a pump station and pressured sewer line from there to South Street.
A public hearing of the Planning and Zoning Commission and Inland Wetlands Board on the topic has been set for May 14.
