Ridgefield Actors Featured In Musicals At Richter Fairy Tale Theater Season

Musicals at Richter's Fairy Tale Theater opens July 11 in Danbury, with a few familiar faces in the cast.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Several Ridgefield performers are among the young actors in Musicals at Richter’s 25th season of Fairy Tale Theater, which opens Saturday, July 11, at the Richter Arts Center in Danbury.

The four-week series will be staged on the grounds of the Richter Arts Center, 100 Aunt Hack Road. The season includes “The Wind in the Willows” on July 11; “Me and Star: A Sybil Ludington Story” on July 18; “The Three Little Pigs” and “The Reluctant Dragon” on July 25; and “Rapunzel and Baby Yaga” on Aug. 1.

Robert Mayette of Ridgefield adapts and directs the shows, which are performed by an ensemble of young area actors. The hourlong performances include audience participation, a show-related craft activity, birthday recognitions and an appearance by narrator and troubadour Alan-a-Dale, played by Mayette, according to Musicals at Richter.

“Fairy Tale Theater brings forth a wide range of stories designed to delight children while offering themes and humor for the accompanying adults,” Mayette said in the release.

Mayette said this year’s series revisits Kenneth Grahame, author of “The Wind in the Willows” and “The Reluctant Dragon,” and includes a version of the legend of Sybil Ludington in recognition of America 250. He said the season also includes an updated version of “The Three Little Pigs” and a new take on “Rapunzel” that includes the legends of Baba Yaga.

Ridgefield cast members include Charlotte Mayette, Emily Mayette, Linden Spreng, Sloane Schmeidel and Ruby Higley. Other performers include Brisa Pierce, Vica Pierce, Kael Cummings Da Silva and Liberty Cummings of Danbury; Clara Danenberg and Lucy Palinkas of Newtown; Alex Romao of Bethel; and Emily Hughes of Lagrangeville, New York.

The grounds open at 10:30 a.m. for the craft activity, and performances begin at 11 a.m. Audience members are asked to bring blankets or chairs for lawn seating, along with sunscreen. Performances will move indoors in the event of inclement weather, according to the release.

Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door. A small snack and drink concession will be available. More information is available at the group's website, by leaving a message at 203-748-6873 or by emailing info@musicalsatrichter.org.
