Ridgefield Affordable Housing Gets Public Hearing

The units will range from about 900 square feet to 1,200 square feet and offer one-bedroom and two-bedroom layouts.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The public and the Planning and Zoning Commission got the details on an affordable housing development proposed for Danbury Road on Wednesday, the News Times is reporting. This was the first public hearing on the project.

Charter Group Partners' 30-unit development would include apartment-style condominiums for residents age 55 and older, and 9 of those units would be designated as affordable housing. The units will range from about 900 square feet to 1,200 square feet and offer one-bedroom and two-bedroom layouts.

The developers are planning to build a walkway connecting the building to the nearby Parks and Recreation Department’s walking trails and the Founders Hall senior center.

The proposal from Charter Group is one of three affordable-housing applications before the commission submitted under state statute 8-30g, which allows developers to bypass certain local zoning rules if they set aside a number of units as affordable.
