RIDGEFIELD, CT — Auditors have confirmed a town budget surplus exceeding $1.26 million for the fiscal year 2018-19, the Ridgefield Press is reporting.
Town and school funding had been budgeted at $144.4 million for that period. At a meeting on Dec. 18, auditors from the firm Blum, Shapiro & Company told the Board of Finance that spending was $143,566,062, under budget by $844,306. Town revenues were $144,835,357, exceeding projections by $424,989.
These numbers ignore the $1.6 million that had been budgeted to be drawn as revenue from the "fund balance," the town's running multi-year surplus that is currently in excess of $15 million.
