Ridgefield Board of Ed Approves $107M School Budget
The $107,159,322 plan represents a 4.79 percent increase over the current budget.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — Last week the Ridgefield Board of Education approved the superintendent's budget proposal for the 2022-23 school year.
The $107,159,322 plan represents a 4.79 percent increase over the current budget, and a shave of $197,409 off Superintendent Susie Da Silva's first proposal last month.
The main drivers of the approved budget remain a 90-student increase in enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, new trends in special education, an increase in students with disabilities and a focus on mental health needs.
Missing from the latest proposal was $170,681 in workers compensation insurance, giving an overall decrease to the proposed spending plan by $175,570. Another $10,000 in athletic equipment also didn't make the cut.
The proposed budget will be presented to the Board of Selectmen on Mar. 2.
