Ridgefield Boards Give Final Approvals for Sewer Plant Renovation
The plan will reduce nitrogen and phosphorous released into the Norwalk River.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — Both the Inland Wetlands Board and the Planning and Zoning Commission passing resolutions of approval Tuesday night to renovate the town's District I sewer plant, the News-Times is reporting.
The plan is designed to reduce nitrogen and phosphorous released into the Norwalk River, and calls for the merging of the town's two wastewater treatment facilities into a single plant. It will also be upgraded it to comply with new state and federal standards. Notably, the sewer upgrade project will not increase the system's capacity.
It is all part of the $48 million sewer project previously approved by voters.
