Ridgefield BOS Seeks Volunteers For Leaf Blower/Noise Review Committee

Everyone has an opinion on whether gas blowers are a suburban bane or a boon. Make yours count, on the Leaf Blower/Noise Review Committee

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Town of Ridgefield is forming a Leaf Blower/Noise Review Committee to investigate the advantages, disadvantages, logistics, financial repercussions, and other components of restricting the use of gas-powered leaf blowers.

The move follows a 2023 petition for proposed revisions to the Town Ordinance regarding gas powered leaf blowers which sparked an "immense reaction" from residents, according to town officials. After the Board of Selectpersons received hundreds of responses, both for and against the changes, at a Public Hearing, and through emails and letters, the petition was withdrawn over logistical concerns.

On March 20, the BOS will vote on the number of members, which is expected to be 9, and the charge of the Committee. The next step will be candidate interviews.

Residents interested in serving should submit a resume to selectman@ridgefieldct.gov by March 15.
