Ridgefield Candidate Profile: John M. McNicholas
McNicholas tells Patch why he should be elected to the Board of Police Commissioners.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in Ridgefield and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.
Ridgefield Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.
John M. McNicholas, 70, is running for a seat on the Board of Police Commissioners as a Republican. He is a former member of the Ridgefield Parking Authority, former Charter Revision Commission Chairman, and currently the first alternate for the Zoning Board of Appeals. He holds an associate degree in business administration, and works as a state marshal.
The single most pressing issue facing our town/district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Fiscal Management of Department Budgets, Maintaining Manpower Requirements, Updating facility and equipment used on a daily basis by Police Officers, Planning and Budgeting for the Future and Committing to long term solution to the heavy traffic conditions in town.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I am proud of my more than 40 years experience of Hands on actual Law Enforcement and the Criminal Justice Field. This can not be duplicated or substituted.
List other issues that define your campaign platform:
Expanding Community Relations, Increase foot patrols on Main Street and developing a better understanding of the pressures on school children in our community.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Promoted by the Integrity Review Board of the New York City Police Department, Investigated Public Corruption in New York City Department of Investigation, managed budgets and personnel needs for major international investigative firm and sole practitioner practice. Currently maintain contacts with many Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement personnel in Fairfield County and the State of Connecticut.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am active in many other Community/Church groups in Ridgefield and will continue to serve in any way possible. I will never embarrass the voting public of Ridgefield.
