Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance Brings 'Nutcracker' to Life
This year's production will be the largest ever, introducing new characters.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance's annual presentaton of "The Nutcracker" will be the school's largest ever.
In addition to staging the largest cast, the production is also adding additional characters.
Nutcracker Director Alexander Glaz explains, “In the first act, I am adding a number of new characters such as the ‘Clock Critters,’ a ‘Parlor Maid,’ and the ‘Columbine Doll’ as part of the party scene. In the second act, ‘Little Lanterns’ of the Chinese dance will be making their appearance followed by ‘Matryoshkas’ of the Russian dance. And last but not least, the grand premiere of ‘Mother Ginger’ with the hope that we can fit her dress through the wings and onto the stage! This will surely be a treat and an inspiration for the whole family.”
In addition to the cast of live window mannequin dancers that have come to be an annual tradition during Downtown Ridgefield’s Holiday Stroll, RCD is scheduling a number of free public holiday performances featuring their performing ensembles. Holiday performances include Ann’s Place for Cancer Support Services and Founder’s Hall’s Wreath Festival, both on Nov. 18, and a free in-studio presentation on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.
There will be five performances of "The Nutcracker" at the Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday Dec. 14 at 6:00 p.m., Saturday Dec. 15 at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and Sunday Dec. 16 at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available online at the Playhouse website.
