Ridgefield Continues Work On Affordable Housing Plan

The town's Affordable Housing Committee will meet Monday night to begin revising Ridgefield's state-mandated affordable housing plan.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The town's Affordable Housing Committee will meet Monday night to begin revising Ridgefield's state-mandated affordable housing plan.

The meeting follows a period of information gathering, including a series of public information sessions and a public hearing. Monday's meeting, to be held in the Large Conference Room at Town Hall from 7-9 p.m., will be followed by public comment.

According to the current draft of the affordable housing plan, 80 percent of Ridgefield is zoned exclusively for single-family homes. The cost of rentals, single-family homes and condominiums recorded in 2021 are "well above what a household qualifying for affordable housing can pay," .

According to the plan, the maximum prices these households can afford are:

  • Rentals:
    • Studio: $1,364
    • 1BR: $1,558
    • 2BR: $1,753
    • 4BR: $2,104
  • Single-family house or condo:
    • 1 BR: $217,977
    • 2BR: $256,227
    • 3BR: $303,242
    • 4BR: $312,136

A new state law requires local governments to specify how their municipality intends to increase the number of affordable housing developments.
