Ridgefield Cops Find Cocaine, Pot, During Routine Cellphone Stop

Officers searched the vehicle after a police dog detected the odor of narcotics.

RIDGEFIELD, CT --- Police arrested a Stamford man for possession of marijuana and cocaine with an intent to sell after pulling him over for texting while driving, on Tuesday around 9 p.m.

William Garcia-Perez, 35, was found with 2.5 grams of marijuana and 8.5 grams of crack cocaine in his car after K-9 officer Loki detected the odor of narcotics from the vehicle and officers searched the vehicle.

Additional charges against Garcia-Perez mentioned on the police report include possession of narcotics, using a cellphone while operating a vehicle, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana and driving with a suspended license.

Garcia-Perez was released after posting a $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on April 24.
