Ridgefield Cuts Half a Million Dollars from School Board Budget
Deepest cuts were made in proposed new staff.

RIDGEFIELD, CT --- Reductions in new staff were the deepest cuts made Monday night when the Board of Education voted unanimously to reduce $532,155 from its 2018-19 school budget. The total budget now sits at $95 million, which is still a 2.55 percent increase over the current year's allocation.
In addition to nixing the hire of two new school psychologists, which represented a savings of $144,000, the board made reductions in technology ($102,984) and special education ($68,611), among other areas.
The 2018-19 school budget will be presented at the annual town meeting on Monday, May 7.
