Ridgefield Declares State Of Emergency Over Coronavirus
Ridgefield First Selectman Richard Marconi announced the state of emergency as a precaution against coronavirus.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — First Selectman Rudy Marconi declared a local state of emergency for Ridgefield in response to the threat of the new coronavirus.
The declaration does not indicate a major change in the local situation, but rather parallels the declaration made by Gov. Ned Lamont and facilitates dealings with state and federal authorities as necessary, according to a statement from the First Selectman's Office.
Earlier this week, Marconi ordered the partial activation of the town's Emergency Operations Center, comprising health and public safety department heads. The group meets daily and coordinates the response to the virus with schools, government and local businesses.
