Ridgefield Dems Seek To Fill New Vacancy on Board Of Education

The Ridgefield Democratic Town Committee is seeking candidates to fill a new opening on the Board of Education.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Carina Borgia-Drake has tendered her resignation from the Board of Education, after three years of service.

The resignation is effective Sept. 30.

The Ridgefield Democratic Town Committee is seeking candidates to fill Borgia-Drake's vacant seat. The Town Charter requires a Board to fill a vacancy with a person who is a member of the same political party as the person leaving the position. Borgia-Drake was elected to a four-year term in November 2017, so her replacement will fill the seat until November 2021.

The DTC is requesting that any Democrats registered in Ridgefield interested in the seat send a statement of interest as well as a resume or biography (or equivalent) to recruitment@ridgefielddems.org, by Sept. 26.

Submissions will be reviewed by the DTC Recruiting Subcommittee, who may interview potential candidates, and the DTC can send an endorsement to the BOE for its consideration. The BOE will be conducting its own official selection process for filling the vacancy.

If the position is not filled by the BOE within a month, the selection will be made by the Board of Selectmen.
