Ridgefield Doctor to be Sentenced in June for Health Care Fraud

The doctor pleaded guilty to the charges in January.

The sentencing for a Ridgefield doctor who pled guilty to health care fraud in January will be in June, the Ridgefield Press reports.

According to the paper, Dr. David Lester Johnston schemed to defraud Medicare and several private health insurance companies. The scheme involved submitting claims for services he did not perform and misrepresenting the nature of the services.

Johnston was charged with 14 counts of health care fraud and making false statements relating to health care matters in March 2014, the paper reports.

His sentencing is scheduled for June 30.
