Ridgefield Exploring New Ways To Govern Itself

Should Ridgefield have a Town Manager? How about a Town Administrator? A new committee will explore all the options.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Ridgefield Board of Selectpersons is forming a Change of Government Committee to explore the idea of amending Ridgefield’s form of Government.

The move comes following a recommendation from the 2023 Charter Revision Commission, affording to a news release from the Town of Ridgefield.

The Change of Government Committee will be charged with exploring the idea of employing a Town Manager or Administrator. A Town Manager would act as the Chief Executive Officer relative to the operations of the town and requires a charter change. A Town Administrator is an added position that does not require a charter change, according to Town officials.

In addition, the Committee will research other variations of government structures and bring recommendations to the BOS.

Any changes to the charter would first have to be approved by a Public Hearing and a Town Meeting.

Residents interested in joining the Change of Government Committee should email their credentials to selectman@ridgefieldct.gov or call 203.431.2774.
