Ridgefield Firefighters Carnival Is a 'Go' for This Weekend

Once feared cancelled, the show is back, and it'll be even bigger!

RIDGEFIELD — Proving that you can't keep a great festival down, the annual Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department’s Carnival, which was originally canceled, is back on for Thursday, June 28 through Saturday, June 30 from 6-10 p.m. each night.

Organizers thought their carnival, the unofficial start of the area-wide 4th of July festivities, was a goner when their usual East Ridge Middle School location proved off-limits due to school being in session all month -- another casualty of the May 15 macroburst.

The owners of Ponds Edge Professional Center on Route 7 learned of the dilemma and stepped up, offering to host the carnival in the center’s south parking lot.

Upside? Bigger location means more rides and more parking. There will be no fireworks this year, however.

But if it's fireworks you crave, you will find there are plenty of shows from which to choose this time of year in the area around Ridgefield, Wilton and Redding.
