Ridgefield Girls Soccer Earns First-Round Bye In Class LL Tourney
Tigers open on Thursday against Amity-Newington winner.

Three of Ridgefield's fall sports teams will compete in postseason play, led by the fifth-seeded girls soccer squad, which earned a first-round bye in the CIAC class LL state tournament.
The Tigers, who were upset by Darien, 3-2, in the quarterfinals of the FCIAC playoffs, will be looking to make another deep tournament drive after advancing to the semifinals last year.
Also participating in the postseason for Ridgefield will be the boys soccer and girls volleyball units.

The girls soccer team (12-3-1) will open at home in the second round on Thursday at 2 p.m., when it takes on the winner of the contest between No. 12 Amity and No. 21 Newington.
The girls soccer quarterfinals are set for Saturday at sites to be determined.

The boys soccer team (9-6-1), which also lost in the opening round of the FCIAC playoffs, received a No. 18 seed, and will open on the road on Monday to face No. 15 Newtown at 2 p.m..
If Ridgefield wins, it would face either No. 2 Naugatuck, which is 13-0-3, or No. 31 East Hartford in the second round on Wednesday at 2 p.m. The boys' round of eight games are Friday.
The volleyball team (14-5) is seeded 11th and will host No.22 Amity in the first round on Monday at 4 p.m.
If the Tigers advance, they play at No. 6 Fairfield Ludlowe in the second round on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Ludlowe earned a first-round bye.
