Ridgefield Glass Offers Revolutionary New Frameless Shower Doors

New Style Works in Small Bathrooms

Around this time every year, most homeowners get remodeling spring fever. One of the top re-dos is the bathroom. Many saavy homeowners today are tossing the tub and opting for oversized spa showers. But some are met with disappointment when they find frameless glass shower doors won’t work in their space. Now there’s a new state-of-the-art product that offers them an option.

“It took years, but the days of disappointment are over!“ exclaims John Petchonka, co-owner of Ridgefield Glass. “Many times a client was denied a frameless shower enclosure because a swinging door was not an option. Perhaps the room was too small, or there was an obstruction in the path of the door swing such as a vanity or commode.”

Petchonka explains that the industry has commercialized a frameless sliding enclosure, meant for a tight fit without compromising the elegance of a frameless enclosure. He enthusiastically welcomes this design “as the biggest game changer since the advent of the frameless shower in the 1990's.” He further notes the industry is in the process of more developments.

“Several fabricators are researching a frameless enclosure where both panels slide for more user flexibility. This new product development is still about 3 years away and will be the next big change in the frameless shower market.”

Frameless shower doors offer a bright and sophisticated appearance while presenting a feeling of spaciousness. The new frameless sliding shower enclosures are constructed with 3/8” thick glass panels with one fixed panel which supports a stylish track while the sliding glass panel provides the opening into the shower. The shower door slides on decorative wheels along the top track. All hardware is made of polished or brushed stainless steel to ensure a long lasting, problem free enclosure.

The handle choices range from a traditional shower handle, to a simple yet chic knob, to an unobtrusive finger pull. The frameless slider can also be customized. Glass options include frosted or ultra clear, low iron glass, and the glass can be treated with a teflon coating to ease maintenance. Additionally, a towel bar can be added to the fixed panel if so desired.

“Homeowners today are trying to achieve a high-end look that shows off beautiful tilework with a frameless glass enclosure,” adds Petchonka. “Now there are plenty of frameless slider choices on display in our showroom that will suit your style and needs."

Petchonka notes that these shower doors will ultimately increase the marketability of your home as they offer a sought-after sleek and sophisticated look. Frameless sliders are also more durable than a framed door, which makes them a better long-term value. Lastly, these shower doors are safe as each panel is made of safety glass that’s been tempered to withstand impact.
