Ridgefield Guild of Artists Presents Two New Shows

Katonah Museum Artists' Association "The Blues" and Ellen Gordon's "Alter Ego" To Open at Ridgefield Guild of Artists February 4th

The Ridgefield Guild of Artists presents two new shows: The Katonah Museum Artists’ Association juried member exhibition “The Blues” and Ellen Gordon’s “Alter Ego” series in the Upstairs Gallery.

“The Blues” is an exhibition of outstanding art by over 50 KMAA artist members juried by Connecticut artist David Allen Dunlop. The exhibition continues from February 4 to March 4, 2018 with an opening reception Sunday, February 4, 6-8pm.

The phrase “the blues” usually suggests a mood of melancholy, but in musical terms “The Blues” have been said to “rejoice as well as cry.” For this KMAA exhibit, artists were invited to express their personal visual interpretation of “The Blues,” whether is gives voice to mood, color, musicality or more. The work of over 50 KMAA artists were selected by distinguished juror David Allen Dunlop, host and writer of the 13-show national PBS television series, “Landscapes Through Time with David Dunlop,” for which he won an Emmy and a CINE Golden Eagle Award. As a faculty member of the Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan, CT, Dunlop also teaches, lectures, gives workshops and leads groups to Italy, France, Spain and Japan.

In our Upstairs Gallery Ellen Gordon will be exhibiting her Alter Ego Series. The series is composed primarily of small works on paper that speak to the spontaneous freedom of creating artwork from life. These small works have been the basis for her signature figurative collage pieces which will also be on display. Please join us on Sunday, February 4th from 1-3pm for this show’s opening reception.

The Guild is located at 34 Halpin Lane in Ridgefield. Call 203.438.8863, email rgoa@sbcglobal.net or visit rgoa.org for more information about this event and all guild offerings. RGOA is an IRS tax-exempt 501c(3) organization and all contributions are greatly appreciated.
