Ridgefield High Football Coach Charged with DUI on Leave
Coach Kevin Callahan was charged in his hometown of Fairfield.

Ridgefield High School football coach Kevin Callahan has been placed on leave, the News Times reports.
Callahan, 52 will be on leave pending a review by the school district.
Callahan hit a traffic sign in the center of a Fairfield road Sunday night then continued on and struck a tree on the side of the road, according to a report in the Fairfield Citizen.
Callahan allegedly told police he was looking at an incoming text when the accident occurred, the paper reports. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol and found a half-empty bottle of vodka in the car.
He was charged with distracted driving, failure to drive right and failure to carry a valid insurance card.
According to the News Times, the school district learned of Callahan’s arrest on Monday.
Callahan serves as the head football coach, the dean of students and the head physical education teacher.
