Ridgefield High School Names New Principal

Jacob Greenwood will replace Stacey Gross as principal at Ridgefield High School.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The school district has named a former biology teacher as the new principal of Ridgefield High School.

Jacob Greenwood will replace Stacey Gross, who announced her retirement last November.

Greenwood taught biology at the high school from 1999 to 2012, and was promoted to dean of students in 2006, then department chair in 2009. Since then he had served as principal of Darien High School, and at Masuk High School in Monroe where he has been principal for the past two years.

In her recommendation, Ellen Dunn, principal of Darien High School, wrote that Greenwood "had tremendously strong relationships with students... and wonderful relationships with teachers. You will be very lucky to have him," according to a new release. Joseph Kobza, assistant superintendent of the Masuk High School district said: "the one thing you need to know is that he is the real deal."

Greenwood, who will start on August 1, said, "as I began my educational career in RHS, the Ridgefield community has always held a special place in my heart, and I am humbled and excited for the opportunity to return as Principal. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to serve the students, families, and staff of Ridgefield once again."

Greenwood holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire, a master’s degree from the University of Southern Maine, and a doctoral degree from Western Connecticut State University.
