From the Ridgefield High School Visual & Performing Art Department:
Ridgefield High School Visual & Performing Arts Department, under the direction of Sherry Cox, will present “Tartuffe” by Molière, translated into English verse by Richard Wilbur. The show will be staged in RHS’s Black Box Theater the weekend of February 5th.
Tartuffe, which was first performed in 1664, is one of the most famous theatrical comedies by Molière. As described by the Dramatists Play Service, Inc., the story takes place in the home of the wealthy Orgon, where Tartuffe -- a fraud and a pious imposter -- has insinuated himself. He succeeds magnificently in winning the respect and devotion of the head of the house and then tries to marry his daughter and seduce his wife and scrounge the deed to the property. And he nearly gets away with it….If you want to see how his devious plot is foiled you will need to come see this five act comedy, produced in the “square” in the RHS Black Box by a tremendously talented cast and crew of RHS students.
Actors include Olivia Basile, Matthew Berger, Tyler Carey, Kennedy Cutter,
Gabe Gordon, Aedan Julian, Sarah Klotz, Aiden Meachem, Hazel Neil, Maddy Norman, Amy Stoogenke, and Casey Wishna. Senior Caroline Treschitta is stage manager for the production and the crew is rounded out by Evan Brenner and Nia Pollard on lighting.
If you have never experienced a production in the Black Box Theater at RHS this is the perfect opportunity to do so. It is an amazing space to see a show and an entertaining show to see. Mature Audiences suggested. For more info seewww.RHSPerformingArts.info
