Ridgefield High School Runners Win State Open, Qualify for New England Championships
The Tigers' girls team and an individual boy will compete next weekend based on stellar performances at Friday's State Open.
MANCHESTER, CT — The girls cross country team from Ridgefield High School ended the three-year reign of Tolland by capturing the State Open championship Friday at Wickham Park in Manchester.
In winning the Open for the sixth time since 2003, Ridgefield compiled 122 points to 130 for runnerup Tolland.
Tess Pisanelli (25th) placed in the top 25 for the Tigers, who advance to the New England Cross Country Championships Nov. 12 at Ponaganset High School in North Scituate, R.I.

Ridgefield's Bradford Demassa also qualified for the New Englands by finishing ninth in the boys race.
