The national walkout is being organized by four RHS students

RIDGEFIELD, CT --- Ridgefield High School students are planning an event for National School Walkout Day that that will occur on their campus from 10 a.m-2 p.m. on this Friday, April 20. Students will have the option to participate or attend classes as usual.
The event marks the 19th anniversary of the mass shooting at Columbine High School in Colorado during which 12 students and one teacher were killed. The national walkout is being organized by Ridgefield High School students Lane Murdock, Paul Kim, Max Cumming and Grant Yaun.
According to a release from Ridgefield High School Principal Dr. Stacey Gross, some students requested to participate in the National School Walkout initiative, and the school has been directed by the Board of Education to “work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure that the potential April 20th Walkout is conducted as safely as possible on school grounds [for students who choose to participate] with minimum disruption to student learning.”
The walkout will occur in Tiger Hollow "to provide as safe an environment as possible " and there will be an increased Ridgefield police department presence on the campus throughout the day.
Attendance will be taken in class each period, as it is normally. Students who are not present will receive an excused absence if called in by their parent or an unexcused absence if there has not been a call to the attendance office.
