Ridgefield High Student Awarded National Merit Scholarship
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation just announced their list of scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities.

RIDGEFIELD, CT -- The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced that Erin R. Hanlon, a student at Ridgefield High School, is the recipient of a National Merit Scholarship financed by Villanova University, where she plans to study medicine.
There are approximately 3,500 winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities. Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the Finalists in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
Villanova is a privately supported Catholic university under the direction of the Augustinian Fathers located in a Philadelphia suburb. The five undergraduate colleges -- Liberal Arts & Sciences, Engineering, Commerce and Finance, Nursing, and the University College -- provide a liberal education to some 6,000 students. Degrees are offered in any of 34 major fields, with approximately 30 percent of the seniors continuing on to graduate studies.
