Celebrate Mother's Day by being part of the women's 5k and kids' 1 mile races right here in Ridgefield on May 8th. Sponsorship proceeds benefit the Library's Noreen L. Author Talk with Peter Steiner:

Thursday, May 5, 7:00 PM - Main Program Room

Peter Steiner will read from and discuss his fifth novel. The Capitalist (published by St. Martin's Press in February 2016). Steiner left teaching after 8 years at Dickinson College to become an artist; drawing cartoons and painting landscapes and still-lifes. For the next twenty five years he made his living as a cartoonist for The New Yorker, The Weekly Standard, The Washington Times, and other publications. He continues to paint and has had solo exhibitions in Atlanta, Richmond, and Washington, DC. This program is co-sponsored by the Library and Books on the Common. Copies of The Capitalist will be available for sale and signing at the event. Please register.

Sunday, May 8, 3:00 PM - Main Program Room - Let's Sing! - A Community Sing-Along

Join us for Let's Sing! A community sing-along in the spirit of Pete Seeger. "The songs are part of a project from the Music Educators National Conference, chosen for their wonderful spirit and singability," said Cantor Deborah Katchko-Gray, who began the series as a way to bring the community together. Get America Singing Again! is the book that will be used and there is no fee. Members of the public are encouraged to bring friends, family and portable instruments for an uplifting, shared musical experience.Musical hosts are Edwin Taylor, Faith Ferry, and Deborah Katchko-Gray. Job Openings @ The LibraryChildren's Library Assistant:

A year-round position in the Ridgefield Library's children's department at 19 hours per week. Experience working with children, strong customer service and computer skills are essential. Some college required. Library experience desired. Must be available afternoons, evenings and weekends. Hourly rate starts at $16. Application form is required and available here. Teen Services Librarian:

(F/T) sought for Ridgefield Library Adult Services department. We are looking for a dynamic, teen-savvy individual, with youth-focused collection development, reference, reader's advisory and programming experience to work in our sunny, new Teen Center. Strong interpersonal and technology skills a must for outreach and partnerships, as well as running our 10 year old Teen Advisory Group. Duties also include adult reference and technology instruction. MLS required (or near completion). The Library is pleased to join the Ridgefield Playhouse in bringing to Ridgefield live stage adaptations of beloved children's books. Monday, 10:30 AM - Leir Children's Program Room - Drop-In Storytime - Children ages 3 and up are invited for stories, songs and a short book-based film.

Tuesday, 10:15 AM - Leir Children's Program Room - Mother Goose - Mother Goose is a language enrichment program for "walkers" ages 12 months through age 2 including finger plays, music and movement.

Wednesday, 11:30 AM - Leir Children's Program Room - Baby & Me - Finger plays and songs for newborns through age 12 months with a caregiver. Parents of infants are invited to network with each other.

Wednesday, 2:00 PM - Leir Children's Program Room - Time for 3s and 4s - A program just for the three- and four-year-olds including stories, songs and a short film. Children may attend alone or with an adult.

Friday, 11:00 AM - Leir Children's Program Room - Friday Flicks - Book based movies for ages 2 and up.

Saturday, 10:30 AM - Leir Children's Program Room - Drop-In Storytime - Children ages 3 and up are invited for stories, songs and a short book-based film.

Time for Teens: AP Exam Prep Study Hall:

Ridgefield High School students studying for AP exams are welcome to use the Dayton Program Room as a study hall at the following times. A staff member will be present.
