Ridgefield Library to Host Program on LGBTQ Challenges, Rewards

The program will be presented by a licensed clinical social worker.

RIDGEFIELD, CT --- The Ridgefield Library will be hosting "LGBTQ: Understanding the Challenges and Rewards of Youth Finding Their Identity" in the Main Program Room on Thursday, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The evening will be directed by Micaela Scully, a licensed clinical social worker specializing in LGBTQ-specific struggles and concerns.

Scully currently works full-time at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan working with multidiagnostic patients with eating disorders. Previously she has worked on the adult dual diagnosis detox unit treating substance abuse disorders as well as co-occurring psychiatric disorders. She has also worked on the acute care unit of the hospital, the adolescent unit, and in the dual transitional living programs. She also works part time at Triangle Community Center, Fairfield County's only LGBTQ center as a peer support group facilitator for the Transgender, Gender Queer, & Gender Questioning youth group.

This library program is part of the Parenting the #Selfie Generation: Resilience for Life series, a community-wide collaboration with Ridgefield Public Schools, Ridgefield Council of PTAs, Ridgefield Library, Ridgefield Youth Commission, Books on the Common, Project Resilience, Town Vibe, and Silver Hill Hospital.
