Coronavirus Ridgefield: Man Tests Positive
Ridgefield Health Director Ed Briggs says that a resident in his 80s has tested positive for the new coronavirus.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — Health Director Ed Briggs has announced that a Ridgefield resident in his 80s has tested positive for the new coronavirus.
Briggs delivered the news during an online meeting delivered through the Town's website late Monday afternoon. (News about the COVID-19 patient begins at 4:40.)
The Town Health Department is "presently following up on all his contacts," Briggs said.

Ridgefield health officials are also monitoring several residents "who have been exposed to some people in New Rochelle," Briggs said.
Briggs said his office has been monitoring the coronavirus ever since it started in China, "as we expected it to work its way over here."

The health director is encouraging residents to take "necessary precautions," which include frequent hand-washing and social distancing.
