Ridgefield Nurse Is "A Hero Amongst Many Warriors"
Nurse Erin Karloutsos stepped up to work in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at Danbury Hospital.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.
Nurse Lynn Dudas, of Redding, calls fellow nurse Erin Karloutsos "one of the most honorable people on this Earth."
Dudas says Karloutsos started on the medical critical care floors at Danbury Hospital. Later, the Ridgefield RN moved to Labor and Delivery, "assisting doctors in bringing amazing new lives into our community." Dudas started working with Karloutsos when they both worked in Ambulatory Surgery, caring for patients before and after elective surgeries.
But when the new coronavirus hit southwestern Connecticut, Dudas said that Karloutsos, a wife and mother, "stepped up to work in the COVID ICU to provide some of the most medically challenging ill patients on ventilators with her expert knowledge and vigilant kindness."
"Erin graciously changed her shift from days to evenings to accommodate staffing needs," Dudas said, calling her "a hero amongst many warriors during these difficult months."
